Craft Assessment Program

The Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend offers a variety of journey-level assessments. These assessments evaluate the knowledge and skill level of individuals in a specific craft area. Upon completion of an assessment, individuals will receive a copy of their test results. The results will provide the individual with their score, result (pass/training recommended), the topic area, and whether the individual passed that topic area or if training is recommended.

Once the participant’s score meets or exceeds the cut score for that assessment, the participant will receive a transcript, wallet card, and certificate from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

The National Craft Assessment and Certification Process (NCACP) was developed to assess the competency level of experienced workers who do not have formal documentation of their training. NCACP evaluates journey-level knowledge and skills of an individual in their particular craft. The core competencies for all assessments are the Contren® Learning Series standardized curricula. The assessments may be used for both pre and post-employment testing, and a training prescription is provided to all assessed trainees. The prescription provides a targeted training plan to assist trainees in elevating their knowledge and skill level.
