Craft Training Programs

The Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend offers two craft training programs: the Adult Evening Program and the High School Program. All programs provided by the Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend are fully accredited through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

Adult Evening Program

The adult program is delivered during evening hours from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday evenings. Typically, students attend six hours a week split into two evenings a week: Either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday for a 14-week semester. We offer three semesters throughout the year: Spring, Summer, and Fall.

We currently offer adult evening classes in the following Craft areas:

High School Program

The high school program is delivered in partnership with area independent school districts. High school classes are normally conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday from August 20 through May 31 (approximate) and from July 20 through June 1 for year-around school districts.

We currently offer high school courses in the following craft areas:

Admission Requirements:
  • Complete a Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend application
  • Have a parental consent form if under the age of 18 years
  • Pass a basic mathematics skills assessments (Pipefitting Applicants Only)
  • Pass a drug screen test
Physical Requirements:

Individuals should be physically able to perform the following job functions:

  • Help move heavy equipment
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects
  • Carry material and tools from location to location or from floor to floor
  • Work from extension ladders and scaffolds at various heights
  • Work under hot and cold weather conditions
  • Lift and work with tools and equipment above head
